NAMM 2019 Behringer MS-101 No The Behringer MS-1 Analog Synthesizer (formerly MS-101) pays homage to the classic Roland SH-101 from the 1980s, with a design and feature set that calls to the vintage original but in a more affordable package. Behringer has quietly changed the name of their SH-101 clone from MS-101 to MS-1 and we wonder whether this is in response to pressure from Roland, or perhaps because they believe it’s a good thing to do, or maybe it’s marketing and consistency across their product lines.

The Behringer MS-101 synth is a clone of the Roland SH-101 and they also recently just did a clone of the Roland VP-330 called the VC-340. The Behringer MS-101 is a delightfully affordable homage to that iconic synthesizer, sporting all of its cool features — and then some. Behringer took great care in engineering the MS-101, staying true to the original analog circuitry and VCO, VCF, and VCA designs.
